The Department of Data Science, to be introduced from the academic session 2026–27, is envisioned as a dynamic centre for interdisciplinary learning, innovation, and research. The department aims to prepare students to meet the growing demands of a data-driven world by equipping them with strong analytical, computational, and problem-solving skills.

The programme will offer a modern, industry-aligned curriculum integrating core areas such as statistics, computer science and data analytics. Students will gain expertise in data analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data visualization and big data technologies, ensuring they are well-prepared for emerging career opportunities. 

The department will follow a practice-oriented teaching approach, emphasizing hands-on learning through laboratory work, real-world projects, case studies and internships. Students will be trained in widely used tools and technologies such as Python, R, SQL and data analytics platforms.

To enhance employability and industry readiness, the department plans to organize workshops, seminars, certification programmes and add-on courses in collaboration with academic and industry experts. Opportunities for participation in research activities, hackathons, and innovation-driven projects will also be encouraged. 

The Department of Data Science will promote ethical data practices, critical thinking and  continuous learning, enabling students to pursue careers as Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Business Analysts, and Researchers.
